The article “Nejdou vašim potomkům počty? Pomoci může doučování pod dohledem umělé inteligence” (“Your kids struggling with maths? AI-supervised tutoring can help”) appeared in Ekonom weekly on 21 July 2026. Written by journalist Jan Beránek, it covers not only the technology but also how Learniva came about — and how to make high-quality one-to-one tutoring available to more students.
From eight years of tutoring to an education platform
The article introduces Learniva’s founder, Kristýna Coufalová, who spent eight years tutoring maths one-to-one during her studies and the career that followed. That experience is what led to Learniva: a one-to-one approach can make a fundamental difference to how well someone understands maths, but not every family can afford regular private tutoring.
Learniva’s goal is to use artificial intelligence so that students can get explanations and feedback tailored to their specific mistakes, without depending solely on the availability of a private tutor.
AI that follows the path to the answer
Ekonom also looks at what sets Learniva apart from ordinary educational chatbots. In the app, students genuinely solve problems, calculate and construct — and Learniva works with each individual step, helping uncover where a student went wrong or what they don’t yet understand.
One of the most technically demanding areas is construction geometry. The same task can often be solved correctly in several ways, so the system has to evaluate the mathematical relationships — not just the final drawing.
The article also touches on our plans to bring the technology into educational institutions and, step by step, to students beyond the Czech Republic.
